School Site Council

Your Voice Matters!

Orangewood Elementary is seeking parent representatives to serve on our School Site Council (SSC) for the 2026–2027 school year.  This is two year commitment.
The School Site Council is an important part of our school community. Parent representatives work alongside school staff to help develop, review, and provide input on the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). This is an opportunity for parents to share their ideas, perspectives, and feedback as we work together to support the academic and social-emotional success of all Orangewood students.

 

What Does the School Site Council Do?

The School Site Council helps our school:
  • Review and provide input on the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Identify priorities and strategies to support student learning and achievement.
  • Review the effectiveness of programs and supports.
  • Provide a parent perspective on school goals and programs.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to help ensure resources and efforts are focused on student needs.

 

Highlights from Last Year

Through the work of our School Site Council, Orangewood continued to support programs and opportunities that benefit our students. Some highlights included:
  • Social-Emotional Learning: Adding Emotional ABCs as our Social-Emotional Learning program for students in TK–2nd grade.
  • Transitional Kindergarten Support: Continuing coaching and support for our TK classrooms through the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.
  • Academic Field Trips: Maintaining field trips that reinforce the academic standards and learning taking place in each grade level.
 

Meeting Information

When: One day during the following months: October, December, February, March, April
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Location: Community Services Center
Length: Approximately 1 hour
We encourage parents who are interested in being involved in the direction of our school to consider serving on the School Site Council.
